On Tuesday, December 9th, we will have guest speaker Dr. Kirk Griffith of NeuroBehavioral Associates. Dr. Griffith is a neuropsychologist who has extensive experience working with people who have learning differences and attention disorders. He will speak about Organization Strategies and Executive Functioning in Children. Join us for his presentation at a special time: 6:30 in the library, followed by the PTA business meeting at 7:30.
For those of you who have other commitments, we will strive to keep you informed and involved with our website, email newsletter, and on Facebook.
A Westowne favorite, students get to shop for inexpensive gifts for friends and family. Holiday Shoppe runs Tuesday, December 9th - Thursday, December 11th. The remaining inventory will be available for parent purchase on Thursday from 4:15-5:15. Please consider donating gently used knickknacks, toys, and "Dad" gifts (just drop them off in the school office), as well as signing up to help run the shop.
School Facilities Community Forums
Baltimore County Public Schools hosted a Southwest area forum Tuesday, September 30th, 2014 to solicit feedback from our community about school facilities. Representatives from Westowne PTA were there to gather information and share concerns. See our blog for the meeting recap.
Citizen's Advisory Committees
Both the Citizen's Advisory Committee for Gifted and Talented Education (GT CAC) and the Special Education Citizen's Advisory Committee (SECAC) offer parents an opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns about these programs in BCPS schools. Westowne Elementary PTA has representatives for both committees. They advocate for our needs and help us stay informed. We'll add meeting dates to our calendar as they become available.
