Skate Night
Hot Skates of Woodlawn will open just for Westowne families and friends today from 6:00 - 9:00. The cost is $6 to skate or $2 to watch. This evening is not a fundraiser. Thanks to Westowne parent, Carey Berlin, for setting up this event!
Book Fair
The PTA sponsored Scholastic Book Fair runs March 16th - 18th. Every student will get a shopping trip during a school day that week. We also run the fair during Literature Night so that parents and kids can shop for themselves and for their classroom libraries. See the book fair Volunteer Spot to sign up to help.
Literature Night
Think globally, learn locally and celebrate our diversity from both near and far. Please mark your calendars for our annual multicultural literature night on Friday, March 18th, from 6:00 - 9:00. Volunteers are needed for this literacy promotion event:
- Pizza & Concessions (5th grade parents) – Help set up and sell concessions. Proceeds benefit the 5th Grade Committee.
- Stories & Crafts – Help out in the classrooms with stories and crafts for the parents and kids. This is a great opportunity for middle school students to earn volunteer hours while experiencing Literature Night as alumni.
- Membership & Spirit Wear – Help the PTA sell memberships and spirit wear.
- Set up & Clean up

Chess Club is now full. Any new registrations for the class will be returned, along with the fee, to parents. Thank you for your interest and support.
Our afterschool clubs are run by parents and teachers, instead of commercial organizations, so that registration fees are minimal. The goal is to provide educational enrichment, in interest areas that motivate students, at cost. We can run more frequent, larger, or more varied clubs if inspiration strikes: Let us know if you'd want to take the lead for a six to eight week session next school year!
Box Tops Raffle Winner
Congrats to Wyatt from Ms. Claffy's class who won the Panera Bread $10 raffle from Box Tops. Thank you to all the families who collect Box Tops for our school!
Panera Restaurant Night
Join us for the next restaurant night on Monday, March 7th. Dine in or carry out. Even pick up bagels for the next morning. Ten percent of all the evening's purchases will be donated to our PTA (no flyers or mention of the PTA necessary) to help fund Literature Night and Field Day.
BCPS Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey
The 2016 BCPS Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey is available online now through the end of the month. Employees, parents, and students in 4th through 12th grade are encouraged to provide anonymous input to BCPS. The survey takes only a few minutes and is available in multiple languages.

Read to Reef Book Club
Now through April, your children can get four aquarium tickets just for reading aquatic themed books. Tickets are available thanks to the Read to Reef Book Club--the aquarium's partnership with the city's Enoch Pratt libraries. The Edmondson Avenue branch may be worth the (short!) trip.
