Message from Outgoing Board
Dear Westowne Community,
It has been a great privilege to serve you the last four years. We have built our community through educational enrichment, school support, and family events. I would like to thank Sarah Fondelier, Stacie Lauer, and Crystal Shelley for partnering with me. Thank you for trusting me, as well as offering friendship, support, and constructive feedback along the way. As I wrap up my term, I encourage you to offer the same support to the incoming PTA board. They are a great group of parents who believe a strong PTA is crucial for a strong school and community.
With great appreciation,
Justine Stull, PTA President

BoxTops Party
Congratulations to Ms. McIntosh's class for being the top contributors of Box Tops this year. As thanks, they have won a class party. Enjoy!
Many thanks to everyone for collecting Box Tops. Please keep clipping this summer and send them to school in September.
FUNding Friday Party
Did you know that direct donations like FUNding Friday and Go Fund the PTA mean we can do more and work less? Bigger assemblies like Westowne's favorite, 123 Andres; free Science Night; magic shows at Fall Fest; etc.--all without selling you anything like wrapping paper or baked goods.
Thanks for your support, Westowne. Your generosity showers our school with "extras" that we couldn't provide without you. Also congratulations to Ms. Getsinger's class for being the top contributors. As thanks, they have won a class party.

Flying Up Day
Students will participate in Flying Up Day in the morning on Tuesday, June 12th to meet their teachers for next school year. Please note that classroom placement is subject to change based on new enrollments over the summer.
Lost and Found
Is your child missing something? Westowne's Lost and Found has been moved to the school lobby so that students and parents may look for missing items. The Lost and Found items, including many coats and jackets, will be donated to charity at the end of the school year.
Nurse’s Notes
In School Medications: If your child has any medication at school, including an inhaler or an EpiPen, please pick it up before 1:00 PM on Friday, June 15th or it will be destroyed. Medications may not be stored over the summer. Students will need a new order from the doctor, dated after July 1st for the 2018-2019 school year. If you are unable to pick up the medication by June 15th, please call Nurse Martin to set up a time to pick it up. 443-809-0023
Borrowed Clothing: If your child has come home wearing clothing from the health suite, please wash and return the clothing before the end of the school year. Please keep any underwear that has come home on your child. I would love to have my pants and shirts back.
Health Forms: If your child will be getting a physical or has a dental appointment over the summer, please stop by to pick up the physical form/dental form for the doctor to complete. Completed forms may be dropped off at the school during summer hours or will be accepted when school opens in September.
5th Grade Families: A letter and a physical form were mailed to your homes the last week of May. Be on the lookout for an envelope from Westowne addressed to your child. It is actually for you! Please schedule a physical for your new 6th grader, ask the pediatrician about immunizations needed for middle school, and send the completed physical and updated shot record to the nurse at the middle school. An envelope addressed with the middle school your child is attending is provided in the mailing or simply drop off the health paperwork at your student’s middle school over the summer. If your 5th grader has any type of medication at Westowne, a new order form was mailed with the letter. Please remember to pick up all medications before 1:00 PM on Friday, June 15th. Medications may not be forwarded to the middle schools; they must be picked up by an adult.
Pre-K Families: Your child may or may not require additional immunizations to begin kindergarten. Check with your pediatrician to ensure that all immunizations are up-to-date before the first day of school. Please bring an updated shot record to the school.
Have a safe, happy, fun, and relaxing summer! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email or phone Nurse Martin at jmartin13@bcps.org or 443-809-0023.
School Library Notes
Students’ overdue book and unpaid book fines (for lost or damaged books) are due no later than Tuesday, June 12th. Library books (and fines) are considered an obligation to BCPS and should be cleared so students can start the next school year with a clear library account. Book payments must be made in cash (and we do not have the ability to make change) to the school library. Please talk to your child about any books or fines he/she may owe to Westowne or the library of their previous school. Notes have been sent home each week for the last 2-3 weeks, announcements and classroom conversations are reminding students in school. As of the end of the school day on Tuesday, June 5th there are over 80+ unresolved book issues.
Anyone who wants to know about their child’s library account can use the child’s BCPS username and password to log in to Destiny (in the Digital Content section of BCPS One).
