June PTA Meeting Notes

President’s Report: China Williams

1. Accepting teacher reimbursements until end of June
2. Ending year with surplus
   1. Need to increase spending next year to decrease surplus
   2. Direct donations have been solid source of revenue (requiring fewer commercial fundraisers) and proven sustainable
3. Voted to increase Printing budget by $75 for paper (total of $250)
4. Thanks to Jessica Brown for serving as Vice President and Box Tops coordinator
5. Financial review scheduled for beginning of July
6. New board term begins July 1
7. PS, Pre-K, K play dates at Christian Temple playground
   1. August 6 10:00-12:00
   2. August 20  1:00-3:00
8. Safe Routes to Schools grant update
   1. China met with representatives from County Executive Kamenetz’s office
   2. Mr. Sheppard said Ingleside sidewalks should be capital improvement project
      1. Ingleside Neighborhood Association of Catonsville (INAC)/Matt Reisner should reach out to Mr. Sheppard for details
      2. INAC developing sidewalk petition for residents
   3. Unlikely to approve pedestrian striping on ends of Harlem lane due to limited foot traffic
   4. Projects likely to be approved
      1. ADA compliant curb cutouts
      2. Sidewalk repairs IF homeowners agree to pay
      3. Walking path improvements behind school to Ingleside/Longview
   5. Looking into possibility of sidewalks for Old Frederick Road between Harlem and Bristol Green development
   6. County needs to plan, provide cost estimates, and provide in-kind donation connections
9. Thanks to 5th Grade Committee and everyone who supported the end of year events

    2. Suggestion for drinking water next year: more water coolers, more supervision

   1. $430 submissions for December check
   2. Received over $1600 this year in disbursements
   3. Mrs. Jang’s class won pizza party for greatest submissions
2. Presented PTA scholarships at award ceremonies
   1. CHS recipient: Elizabeth Bark ($300)
   2. Western Tech recipient: Brandon Brooks ($300)
   3. Shirley Gaver recipient: Jason Quakenbush ($2500)

 
Vice Principal’s Report: Ms. McBride

1. Faculty and staff are packing for the move out of building
2. Moving office to Westchester for summer

3. Thank you for 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony
4. Demo should begin this weekend or Monday
