Box Tops Drawing Winner
Congrats to Nick L. in Mrs. Rees' class for being randomly chosen as the winner of a $10 gift card to sweetFrog! There were 26 entries to the raffle, so we are off to a great start this year. Thank you to all the families who clipped and saved over the summer.
The class that collects the most throughout the school year will win an end of year party. So far, the top three contributing classrooms are:
Oriole's Ticket Drawing Winner
All PTA members who have joined or renewed their annual membership this fall were entered to win a pair of club level tickets to one of the final Oriole's games this season. Congratulations to Westowne parent, Asnake Y. on winning the pair of tickets! Thank you for being a valuable member of our PTA.
School Directory
This year, your PTA is creating a school directory with the help of Join Our Class. Parents and caregivers may choose how much contact information to share (such as just your student's grade, name, and an email address). Participating in the directory is the best way to reach your children's classmates and to give out party invitations, which cannot be distributed at school.
Sign up using the attached form and send it into school in your child's folder.

Volunteer Spotlight
As a volunteer-run, charitable organization, the PTA depends on member's time, skills, and financial contributions. This month, we'd like to thank Westowne parent and Holiday Shoppe Coordinator, Katie McKnight. Katie brings her teaching experience, love of students, and love of a good sale to Holiday Shoppe to assure that Westowne's children get to buy treasures for their family and friends each December. Now preparing for her third year as coordinator, Katie has already spent numerous hours gathering donations from yard sales and flea markets.
Katie, you make Westowne great. We're so looking forward to another Holiday Shoppe with you later this year.

SWAEAC is comprised of community members appointed by the Board of Education to represent the education-related issues specific to our part of Baltimore County. On Wednesday, September 21st at 7:00, Westowne will host SWAEAC's public forum on Grading & Reporting. All are invited to attend.

CMS Community Blood Drive
Catonsville Middle School PTSA is hosting a Community Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 18th, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Please schedule your life saving donation now or visit redcrossblood.org and key in sponsor code: catonsvillemiddle.
Temporary Ramp Closures
The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close and detour the Frederick Road (MD 144) ramps to southbound I-695 (Beltway outer loop) on two weekends and a 10-day period, beginning 9 p.m. Friday, September 16.
The temporary short-term ramp closures and detours in September and early October will allow construction crews to safely perform underground pipe work and construct interchange ramp improvements as part of SHA’s $60 million project to widen southbound I-695 between US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and Frederick Road.
During the ramp closures, all motorists traveling from Frederick Road to southbound (outer loop) of I-695 will be directed to use northbound I-695 and the Edmondson Avenue interchange to reach the outer loop of I-695.
