PTA Meeting
Please join us next Tuesday, April 12th, at 7:00 in the school library for the monthly business meeting.
Box Tops Raffle
Drum roll, please! We are just $68 away from our goal of collecting $1200 worth of Box Tops this school year! Help us reach--or exceed--that goal by continuing to clip and submit Box Tops.
Your Box Tops collection sheet designs are due this coming Monday, April 11th. Thanks to those who have already sent them in! If your student would like to enter the raffle to win a Crayola art kit, too, take some time this weekend to get creative with displaying your Box Tops on a sheet of paper. Please remember:
- only use tape or glue to stick down the Box Tops
- be sure to sort out any expired Box Tops
- do not put more than 50 Box Tops on a sheet
- do not write on the Box Tops themselves
- put your name and your teacher's name on the sheet
PTA Thanks
Thanks to Pajama Day chairs Megan Shawker and Stephanie Pritchard for helping your PTA raise funds each month in such a creative and fun way. Thanks to all the families who chose to participate with donations. Also thanks to our growing number of contributors to the Go Fund the PTA campaign, including the Kolarek family.
Direct support means asking membership to buy commercial fundraiser products less often. As 100% profit, direct support results in more opportunities to provide educational enrichment, family involvement, and school support. We hope you're excited about upcoming PTA sponsored events, including an author visit by Jennifer Keats Curtis, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Field Day.
Corporate Sponsors
We'd like to thank the following businesses for supporting the Westowne community this year:
Platinum Level PTA Sponsors
- Thomas Huot of RE/MAX New Beginnings
- Focused Support, LLC
Subway Restaurant Event
Join us for the next restaurant event on Wednesday, April 13th. Bring your flyer to give to the cashier when you stop by for a meal anytime that day. Fifteen percent of your purchases will be donated to our PTA.
The flyer may be printed from the link below.

The Westowne PTA is currently in the process of applying for a federal Safe Routes to Schools grant in order to secure funds for improving the pedestrian and biking infrastructure in our neighborhoods. Families, please take 5 minutes to complete an anonymous parent survey that will help us with the grant proposal.
This is a great opportunity for our area to finally have connected sidewalks, appropriate school zone signage, and crosswalks that are safer for everyone. The survey will also be distributed in paper format through your children's folders this week. Please fill out the online survey OR the paper survey; we only need one per family. Thank you!
School News
Clean Green 15 Challenge
The Clean Green 15 Challenge cleanup initiative has been extended through the end of April! If Westowne wins, the funds will be used to make our new schoolyard green and welcoming. All it takes is a trash bag, 15 minutes at a time, and completing the log for all of your cleanup efforts.
Sundays are Westowne's community cleanup days. Get a group together or just take a walk down your block. Help cleanup Catonsville! And help us earn a grant by logging your efforts.
School Closings
The BCPS Calendar is available online. Remember these important dates this month:
- Tomorrow, April 8th - 3 hour early dismissal
- Tuesday, April 26th - Schools closed for Election Day
Honestly Autism Day
Honestly Autism Day is presented by the Partnership Project, which is a collaboration of volunteers from the Autism Society of Baltimore-Chesapeake, BCPS, and the Department of Special Education at Towson University. The event will be held on Saturday, April 16th to celebrate Autism Awareness month. Parents, family members, professionals, and people with autism come together to learn from each other. Presenters and a keynote speaker, Dr. Barry Prizant, share their knowledge, and individuals with autism provide insight into their lives on the spectrum.
Online registration is $45 and is available through this Sunday, April 10th
