Cookies & Cards
It's time to share your favorite holiday treats and spread some cheer for Westowne's teachers and staff. Today and again on Monday, December 21st, bring in homemade baked goods. Drop off donations by 10:00 on Monday morning so we can set them up in the lounge. Sign up for baked goods to help us bring in enough quantity and variety.
Not a baker? That's okay. Send in holiday cards for the teachers and staff from your families to help us decorate the teachers' lounge. Cards can be sent in your children's folders in envelopes addressed to the PTA.
While you're at it, also consider giving cookies and cards to your bus drivers and our ever present crossing guard, Ms. Bev.
Five Below Fundraiser
Five Below of Catonsville is hosting a fundraiser for Westowne this weekend, starting tomorrow, December 18th through Sunday, December 20th. Do a bit of shopping (stocking stuffers, perhaps?) and present your flyer to the cashier to support the PTA's 5th Grade Committee. Thank you!

The final Boundary Committee meeting was held last night. Information and the meeting videos may be found online. After much discussion and a series of votes, the committee chose the final map to recommend to the Board of Education for their approval. Mab 3.2b maintains Westowne's current boundaries without adding additional areas.
The recommendation to the Board is February 2nd at the Board of Education's Greenwood Campus. The Boundary Board Hearing, to which the public is invited to attend and participate, is Tuesday, February 17th (snow date on 2/19) in the Catonsville High auditorium. The Board should announce the final boundary decision on Tuesday, March 1st.
Afterschool Clubs
Do you know how to play chess? Are you interested in helping Westowne students learn the game and develop their skills? Consider donating your time as our after-school chess club teacher. It is a 7 week commitment, with 45 minutes per week after school. Email us with questions.
BoxTops Raffle
Box Tops provides a surprisingly important revenue source for Westowne--ten cents at a time. Thanks for clipping! To keep it fun, we run several raffles each year. Additionally, the class with the most Box Tops wins an end of year party. Turn in your labels in a baggie or attached to a collection sheet. Include your child's homeroom teacher's name so you get credit for your contribution. Thanks!
PTA Thanks
Thanks to all for the donations, to the volunteers, and to Westowne parent and Holiday Shoppe chair Katie McKnight for a job well-done!
Thanks to your support and volunteering, we served a holiday luncheon on Tuesday to all faculty and staff. Also thanks to Westowne parent Kerry Johnson and Mission BBQ for their generosity and assistance.
A big thanks to the Bass Family for their generous end-of-the-year donation to the PTA.
You all make Westowne great!

Ground Breaking Ceremony
Thanks to everyone for celebrating Westowne at the Ground Breaking Ceremony this week. Westowne had a great turn out of BCPS and elected officials, as well as many excited student representatives--while work continued on the new building.
This year, Westowne has partnered with Santa's Helpers Anonymous to help meet the holiday needs of families in our community. If you would like to support Westowne families, consider making a charitable donation directly to Santa's Helpers or signing up to volunteer. The organization will then provide holiday meals and gifts to families at our school and throughout Baltimore.
