PTA Meeting
Join us for the monthly business meeting next Tuesday, February 10th at 7:00 in the library. Enter the building through the doors to the left of the gym. Ask questions, share ideas, introduce yourself, and learn more about the mission of PTA, as well as how Westowne's PTA is meeting those goals with your help.
5th Grade Parent Work Session
We welcome all parents of 5th graders to join us at the end of the PTA meeting on Tuesday, February 10th, at 7:45. If you'd like to help your kids celebrate their final year at Westowne, we would love your help with special events like the Recognition Ceremony, t-shirts, and memory books. Also join us to hear the latest on the teacher-led plan for the Philadelphia Field Trip. Join us and assure you're in the loop about all the fun stuff planned for the second half of the school year!
Think Globally, Learn Locally: A Multicultural Literature Night
Save the date for Thursday evening, March 19th!
Help us celebrate Westowne's diversity by sharing your cultural connections with us during our multicultural literature night. We need families to host tables sharing their culture and experiences. We need volunteers to run the stories and crafts in the classrooms. And we need help throughout that week with Book Fair. Send us an email or check out our Volunteer Spot for Book Fair.
After School Clubs
Thank you for leaving your children for clubs only if you received a confirmation email or phone call prior to the start date. Also thank you for picking up your kids promptly at 4:35. We're pleased to offer these clubs with the help of several volunteers.
eScrip Valentine's Day Contest
Show your love for your PTA and Westowne by signing up with eScrip. Throughout February, all new Westowne Elementary PTA supporters will be entered in a drawing to win one of five $100 VISA gift cards. It only takes a few minutes and costs nothing. Plus every ten new supporters registered in February will generate an entry for a chance to earn a $1,000 bonus contribution directly to PTA.

BCPS Surveys
Last year, about 40,000 BCPS members completed the Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey. Make sure your voice is heard this year by taking the quick and easy online survey. Parents, staff, and students beginning in 4th grade are encouraged to provide their feedback.
A Westowne specific Parent Perception Survey is also being sent home with the "Words to the Wise" newsletter. Please provide your anonymous feedback and return it to the school in the provided envelope no later than February 13th.
Green Spirit Day
Be green. Be mine! On Friday, February 13th, show the earth some love. Wear pink or red, and create your own valentines from scrap paper and recycled materials.
Blue Jeans - Green School
The Green Thursday blue jeans drive wraps up tomorrow, February 6th. Jeans will be donated to homeless shelters in our area. This collection is sponsored by www.dosomething.org. The Green Team will throw an ice cream party for the winning class with the most blue jeans, so be certain to turn in last minute donations to your child's teacher.

Community Garden
The Christian Temple is developing a Community Garden and invites the Westowne community to participate. Help kick off this project with a plot of your own to grow fresh vegetables this summer alongside friends and neighbors. The cost for a plot will be minimal.
