Catonsville High School Scholarship
Rhea Montgomery-Walsh is the recipient of the Westowne PTA scholarship, which is awarded to a graduating Catonsville High school student who attended Westowne. Rhea will be attending Tufts in the fall. We are so very proud of you, Rhea. Go out into the big wide world to do good work and have wonderful adventures. We're so glad that the Westowne faculty and staff prepared you for success.
Please join us in the library next Tuesday, June 9th, at 7:00 for the final PTA meeting this school year. Bring your feedback and suggestions for next year. Enter the school through the door to the left of the gym.
Instead of shopping, we recommend the convenient services of SchoolKidz, Inc. Order your back-to-school supply kits now, and your child's teacher-requested, name brand supplies will arrive in time for next school year. This program is not a fundraiser but a service to help you save time. All kits will be delivered to the school in August, and we will let you know the exact date as it gets closer. Please note that orders will need to be picked up by families; they cannot be delivered to homerooms or held after school is in session.
Every family who places an order will be entered into a raffle for $25!
Submit your paper orders, using the form sent home, by tomorrow, June 5th. If possible, place your order online, using account number 8132, by June 12th. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Brown.
Westowne's Wacky Water Games, scooter races, Pull-of-Peace, and more are coming! All kindergarten through 5th grade students get to participate in this traditional event on Friday, June 12th (raindate: Monday, June 15th). A flyer containing the permission slip, team colors, and more went home in your children's folders. This information is also available on the PTA's Facebook group.
There are still many slots open for volunteers, so please consider signing up to help here. Help make this event great for all of Westowne's students.
Thanks to the Westowne community for celebrating and supporting PJ Day this school year! Also thanks to Megan Shawker and Stephanie Pritchard for spreading the word and supervising the donation collections each month.
Ms. Murray's kindergarten class is the pizza party winner!
We need three brave volunteers to help with one of the least glamorous but important of PTA tasks. We are required and dedicated to having membership hold us accountable for our spending, so we need to review our account activity and financial records for this school year. We will get together and walk you through the process. Email us to volunteer or ask questions.
May PTA Meeting Recap
To keep you in the loop regardless of whether you are free on Tuesday evenings, we share the notes from the monthly PTA meetings. Check out our blog for information from the last month.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Early this week, Principal Patrick distributed a letter detailing the changes to arrival and dismissal given the construction projects. The old staff parking lot will be closed, some sidewalks will be closed, and there will be fewer on street parking spots. Please note:
- Students are encouraged to walk or ride their buses whenever possible.
- For those who need to drive, the new carpool lane is on Harlem Lane in front of the school marquee sign.
- The new carpool lane is only accessible to cars approaching from Old Frederick Road, and students should unload or load only from the passenger side of their vehicle.
Grade A Sea Star Night at the Aquarium
On Thursday, June 25th, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, the National Aquarium is offering free admission for students who earned at least three As during any marking period this school year. One accompanying adult also will get free admission, and additional family members can attend for $5. You will need to bring your child's report card. Visit the site to register now to save your spots.
Catonsville Farmer's Market
