PTA Thanks
Thanks to Pajama Day Chairs Megan Shawker and Stephanie Pritchard for helping your PTA raise funds each month in such a creative and fun way.
Also one more thank you to Book Fair Chair, Melody Higgins; Literature Night Chair, Crystal Shelley; and PTA Treasurer, Stacie Lauer--who spent numerous hours behind the scenes managing the finances.
Last week's events were a collaborative effort of teachers, interns, middle school volunteers, and many parents. Your PTA board is very grateful to all of you for your support and for celebrating our community. You all make Westowne great.

Culture Dolls at Literature Night
Book Fair
The Westowne Book Fair is online through today only. Orders will ship for free to the school after spring break and then be sent home with your children.
Middle School PTA
Both Catonsville Middle School PTSA and Arbutus Middle School PTA would like to invite families to become members and become involved.
CMS PTSA has open board positions for next school year including president, vice president, and delegate for a two year term. Elections will be held in May. Please contact Mary Peters if interested. They also have open chair positions, including Straight A Breakfasts and PTA Reflections.
AMS PTA has an open board position this year into next for vice president. They also have an open chair position for Communications. If interested in learning more, please contact them by email.

Light City Baltimore
Premiering in 2016, Light City Baltimore is the first large-scale, international light festival in the United States, homegrown right here in Baltimore. Light City will provide a backdrop for the celebration of ideas, ingenuity and creativity through art, music and innovation. The festival runs March 28th through April 3rd. See the website for more information and the full schedule of events.
Resources for Struggling Readers
The Special Education Citizens Advisory Group (SECAC) for Baltimore County Public Schools recently held a session with Decoding Dyslexia and the Office of Special Education. The goals if this meeting were to answer parent concerns and educate all on dyslexia and effective strategies for teaching kids to read. Here are some of the resources shared.

- Mrs. Jang would like bottle caps for a math craft.
- The school is in need of medium sized boxes to use as they clean out unneeded supplies. BCPS is providing boxes for moving items to the new building, but spare boxes will make the clean-up process faster. Please drop boxes off in the office.

- The READ Act passed in Congress in February, which prioritizes federal funding for for dyslexia research.
