There's no school that day, so bring your families to the 5912 Baltimore National Pike location anytime from 3:00 until 9:00. Flyers will be sent home with all the details and special event coupons for dinner and tokens. Please mention Westowne PTA at the register.

The Southwest Area Boundary Committee had its fourth meeting last week. Information and the meeting videos may be found online. If you find the BCPS/Cropper maps difficult to view, try this series of maps Westowne parent Matt McKnight has created.
Last week, maps A - G were presented, and the committee reviewed the options for the best case scenario for each school. Options F and G were chosen as the clear leaders for Westowne and include all of our existing population, along with an additional neighborhood currently zoned for Catonsville Elementary. Use this website or this email address to provide suggestions and positive feedback directly to BCPS about the proposed boundary maps. Make sure your voice is heard.
In order for parents and community members to provide feedback to Westowne's Boundary Committee representatives (community member Chris Burk, parent Kecia Johnson, Ms. Musacchio, and Principal Palmer), we have created a devoted email address: email@example.com. Please remember these kind folks are working hard for our community.
The next Boundary Committee meeting will be held Wednesday, November 11th at 6:00 at Catonsville High School. Only committee representatives may participate at this meeting, but community members should definitely attend to observe and demonstrate stakeholder interest.
Also mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 18th at 7:00 PM at Catonsville High School. The community is encouraged to attend and participate during this Southwest Community Boundary Change Information Session. This evening provides the public with the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback in person.
Holiday Shoppe Donations Needed
Our beloved Holiday Shoppe is coming December 8th to 10th. We need donated items that students can buy as low-cost gifts for their families.
Consider donating the following: used toys, coffee mugs, re-gifted gifts, neckties, dad gifts (always in short supply), spa products, and other gently used gift items cluttering your basement. Are you crafty? Turn your artistic skills into donated Holiday Shoppe gifts and we’ll sing your praises. Please, no glassware; it doesn't survive the bus trip home.
Donations can be put in the “well” in front of the bulletin board in the lobby. Thanks so much for participating in this popular program. It is one of our most successful fundraisers and the kids have a blast. Questions or ideas? Please let us know.
We'd like to thank the following businesses for supporting the Westowne community this year:
Platinum Level PTA Sponsors
- Thomas Huot of RE/MAX New Beginnings
- Focused Support, LLC
Thanks to everyone's clipping and snipping, we made our first submission to BoxTops for Education at the end of October. It was worth over $500! These funds are used to enrich our school and provide much-loved activities--one dime at a time. The class with the most BoxTops at the end of the school year wins a party. The top classrooms so far are: Woo, Cvengros, and Claffy & McIntosh (tied for 3rd).
Westowne welcomes parents' and caregivers' help in the classrooms, chaperoning field trips, or volunteering for events. All volunteers need to complete an application and training. BCPS offers an online format to make the process easier and faster for many people. Once complete, turn in the documents in the school office.
Don't have access to the internet or printer? The Westowne library is open for volunteer training on the first Friday of the month at 8:30 AM.
Fall photo retakes are Monday, November 9th.
The BCPS calendar is available online. Remember these important dates this month:
- Thursday, November 12th - PS & PK Conference Day: No PS or PK
- Friday, November 13th - Conference Day: School closed for students (And join us at Chuck E. Cheese's!)
- Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th - School closed
