School News

Westowne's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was Thursday, October 13th. Every student participated: some playing instruments, some leading the pledge, some cutting the ribbon--and all got to attend, wearing their t-shirts (a gift from the PTA) and singing the new school song.
Words to the Wise
Check out the October Words to the Wise newsletter from Mr. Palmer and the faculty. This issue includes news from Nurse Martin, grading and reporting information, and more.
Art to Remember
The Art to Remember fundraiser is about to begin. Students in 1st through 5th grade created art that will be turned into keepsakes families can order. Order forms will be sent home, and delivery is set for early December. Many thanks to Mrs. Cooper-Albert, with support from Westowne parent, Adele Snow, for running this program this school year.
And thanks to our community for supporting art education at our school.
Lost and Found
Westowne's Lost and Found is located in the stairwell of the second floor green pod, along with the Recycling Center. The collection of sweatshirts is growing. Have your students check there to see if they've left something at school.
New NEHS Chapter
Eligible 4th and 5th grade National Elementary Honor Society - NEHS inductees and their families were invited to attend a ceremony on Tuesday morning. Thanks to our school, especially Ms. Johnson and Ms. McIntosh, for bringing this honor to students who are role models for their grades and their choices. Participants will be completing monthly community service projects.
