Pajama Day - with Sports Shirts Tomorrow
Students and teachers may wear their pajamas to school tomorrow. And this month, participants can chose to wear sport team shirts instead of or in addition to their PJs.
Everyone can get in on the fun. Those who chose to may send in a monetary donation to support entertaining and educational events like Fall Fest, Literature Night, and Field Day. The class with the most donations wins an end of year pizza party.
Please remind your children to wear regular shoes (no slippers) and leave their stuffed animals at home. They may be wearing pajamas, but it's still a normal day of school activities.
Fall Festival Saturday
The PTA's largest fall event is this Saturday, October 24th from 3:00 - 6:00. This family friendly afternoon is not to be missed.
Festivities include:
Games & activities : $5 wrist bands get your kids access to all this fun stuff --new games, Hazel's Henna, Hoop Love hula hoops, a juggler, crafts (masks and paper pumpkins), big bubbles, and spray paint murals.
Basket raffle : Raffle tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, or $10 for 15. Bring a canned good for the Maryland Food Bank for a free raffle ticket.
Silent auction : Support the PTA while doing some early holiday gift shopping.

Teacher pie-in-the-face : Help the school raise funds for purchasing technology by buying raffle tickets for the privilege of throwing a pie at one of our beloved teachers. We will be selling raffle tickets at school during lunch today and Friday, as well as at Fall Festival. The willing victim will be announced that day.
Winter Coat Drive: Bring your gently used coats to be donated to families in need.
Pizza Concessions : Support the PTA's 5th Grade Committee while feeding your families. We'll have pizza, drinks, and snacks.
Membership Drive and Spirit Wear Sale : Join the PTA and pick up Westowne T-shirts,

Go batty this month. Simply clip, tape or glue Box Tops to the sheet, and turn them in by the end of October. Help us meet our goal with Box Tops, our most successful reward program, 10 cents at a time. The class that collects the most wins an end of the year party. See below for the October collection sheet.
Schwan's Cares - Grocery Delivery
Support the 5th Grade Committee while filling holes in your pantry. Schwan's offers over 350 grocery items to choose from that you are probably already purchasing for your families. Choose your delivery date and time, and they deliver it right to your door.
Grocery purchases contribute 20% and gift certificates contribute 40% -- now through the end of this month. Anyone in a delivery area can participate, including both new and existing customers.

Boundary Committee
The Southwest Area Boundary Committee had its third meeting last week. Information and the meeting videos may be found online. Several new draft maps were presented and critiqued by the committee. Use this website or this email address to provide suggested changes and positive feedback directly to BCPS about the proposed boundary maps.
In order for parents and community members to provide feedback to Westowne's Boundary Committee representatives (community member Chris Burk, parent Kecia Johnson, Ms. Musacchio, and Principal Palmer), we have created a devoted email address: westowneboundary@gmail.com. Please remember these kind folks are working hard for our community.
The next Boundary Committee meeting will be held Wednesday, October 28th at 6:00 at Catonsville High School. Only committee representatives may participate at this meeting, but community members should definitely attend to observe and demonstrate stakeholder interest.
October PTA Meeting Recap
To keep you informed regardless of whether you are free on Tuesday evenings, we share the notes from the monthly meetings. Check out our blog for updates from the PTA, Principal Palmer, and the Boundary Committee.
