School Supply Drive
Let's work together to help all students and teachers have the supplies they need for success in school! Last year we collected enough backpacks and homework boxes filled with supplies to help dozens of students in need at both Westowne and nearby Baltimore City School, Northbend Elementary/Middle School, which is located less than 2 miles from Westowne. We love how our community comes together to love our neighbors. If you are willing to buy a few extra supplies, here's how you can help:
Supplies for Students
- Glue Sticks
- Composition Books
- Pencil boxes
- Pencil cases
- Pencil sharpener
- Colored Pencils
- White board markers
- Post it notes
- Colored pens
- Paper clips
We hope to collect enough for the students in need at Westowne in addition to making a donation for our neighboring students and teachers at Northbend. For pick-up or drop off, you can email Westowne parent Kim Feldman. We will collect donations until Wednesday, August 23rd.
Save the date! We're throwing our big, family friendly fall party this year on Saturday, October 14th from 3:00-6:00.
School Supply Lists
Ready to do your school supply shopping? Westowne's website has the lists ready for you. Sneak a PeekSneak a Peek is Thursday, August 31st from 6:00-6:30. Pop in to school to meet your teachers, see your classrooms, and drop off your school supplies. Please note, the classrooms will only be open for this half hour.
Then stay from 6:30-8:00 for the PTA hosted Sundaes & Sign Ups. Meet classmates, have some (free!) ice cream, and sign up for your PTA membership and the student directory.

School Nurse Reminder
All students who will be in Kindergarten and first grade for the 2017-2018 school year need two doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and two doses of Varicella (Chicken Pox) prior to the start of the school year. Please check with your child's pediatrician if you are unsure if all vaccinations are current.
Please share these resources with family and friends who may need assistance feeding their children this summer.
No Kid Hungry: Just text “food” to 877-877 (or “comida” for a reply in Spanish).
Baltimore County: Lunches will be provided Monday through Friday at area branches of the Baltimore County Public Library from June 20 – August 12. Visit the link for more details, like locations and times.
Sunday, August 13th through Saturday, August 19th is Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week this year. Qualifying apparel and footwear of $100 or less, per item, are exempt from the state sales tax. Accessory items, with the exception of many backpacks, are not included.
