Westowne's excited for two full weekends of Beauty and the Beast, Jr. shows. Our school Drama Club has been working hard since September. Get excited, get your tickets, and enjoy the long weekend. Schools are closed Monday, February 19th for Presidents' Day.

PTA Board Members Needed
It's time to start talking about what you want from your PTA over the next two years! First, we need three members to serve on the Nominations Committee. Their responsibilities include helping to find and vet members who will fill board positions for the next term. Second, we need fresh enthusiasm and dedication to fill the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer positions. Elections are in May, and the new term begins this summer.

Next week, show your Westowne pride by wearing mismatched clothes on Friday, February 23rd. Your PTA encourages those who can to make a monthly donation to fund fun and educational events, like in school assemblies. The donation is very appreciated but optional, and everyone can dress up. If desired, please send cash or a check made out to Westowne PTA in your student's folder Friday, February 23rd.
Did you know that monthly Go Fund the PTA donations count toward classroom totals for the end of year party? Simply set up your recurring PayPal donation and send us an email to confirm which class your child is in.

Skate Night
Hot Skates of Woodlawn will open just for Westowne families and friends. Thanks to Westowne parent, Carey Berlin, for setting up this event! Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Admission and skate rental are $7. Non-skating adult admission is $2. This event is not a fundraiser.

Book Fair & Literature Night
Save the date! Our Scholastic Book fair runs Tuesday, March 13th through Thursday, March 15th. Please pencil in some time that week to help us run the fair.
Also save the date for Westowne's Super Heroes Reads Day and Literature Night on Thursday, the 15th. Book fair wraps up that evening with a shopping opportunity for Westowne's family and friends.

Many thanks to Westowne parents, Laura Mellendick and Kirstin Sharp for running Lego Robotics Club for students.
Also thanks to Westowne parent and Ms. Art History, Lauren Hall. Her Art History Club has been a huge hit. She has already planned--and filled!--two more sessions for this school year.
Club Assistants Needed
We need a parent to assist with some of our upcoming clubs. Parent assistants attend with their children to help the club teachers and have to complete the BCPS online volunteer training. Each club meets for six sessions. As thanks for your time, your child will get a guaranteed slot in the club.
We are working on a 8:15 AM Yoga Club starting Wednesday, March 14th for kindergarten and 1st grade. Thanks to Nat Busbee Yoga!
We are also working on an afternoon Chess Club starting Tuesday, March 20th for 2nd-5th grade. This club will run 4:00-5:00. Thanks to Westowne parent, Greg Russell!
