PTA Board Members Needed
It's time to start talking about what you want from your PTA over the next two years!
It is the second year of the PTA board's term, and the fourth year serving for some board members. We need fresh enthusiasm and dedication to fill the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer positions. Elections are in May.
Please consider how YOU can help support our community. Questions or suggestions? Email us anytime.
Art History Club
We would like to extend the current session of Art History on Friday afternoons to a full hour so that it ends at 5:00. Please also remember, tomorrow, the 19th the club will run from 1:00-2:00 due to early dismissal.
We are thrilled to offer an additional session starting Thursday, February 15th for kindergarten through 2nd grade. Thank you, Westowne parent and club teacher, Lauren Hall! Registration forms will be sent home in student folders soon.

Next week, show your Westowne pride by wearing your clothes backward on Friday, January 26th. Your PTA encourages those who can to make a monthly donation to fund fun and educational events, like our upcoming Science Night. The donation is very appreciated but optional, and everyone can dress up. If desired, please send cash or a check made out to Westowne PTA in your student's folder Friday, January 26th.
Did you know that monthly Go Fund the PTA donations count toward classroom totals for the end of year party? Simply set up your recurring PayPal donation and send us an email to confirm which class your child is in.
The top contributing classes so far are:
- Ms. Connolly
- Ms. Witz
- Ms. Getsinger
Thanks for your support, Westowne families.

School News
Green Thursday
Westowne will celebrate Green Thursday by wearing green on Thursday, January 25th. Students will learn how they can reduce waste and take care of our planet by using only one paper towel when they wash their hands.
The Vision and Hearing technician will be providing screenings to all PK, 1st, and 4th graders from February 1st through February 9th. Any kindergartner who was not screened in PK will be screened. All 2nd, 3rd, and 5th graders who are new to BCPS will also be screened.
If your student is one of these students, and you do NOT want him/her screened, please provide a written and signed note to Nurse Martine before February 1st. Also, if your student fits the screening criteria and already wears glasses, please make sure your child has his/her glasses on during screening week.
Teacher Support
Parents are encouraged to check with their teachers periodically to find out what classroom supplies they may need. Feel free to share the need in the Facebook community forum so other parents can help, too. Here are some of the recent requests:

- The school library media center is in need of tissues for students with runny noses and colds. There are supply holders in the library that can only hold the cube-shaped tissue boxes.
- Ms. Cuttitta and Mrs. Rees are in need of clean, dry milk jugs, 2 liter soda bottles, and coffee creamer bottles.
