FUNding Friday - Beachwear
Next week, show your Westowne pride by dressing like you're visiting the beach on Friday, June 1st. Suggestions include shorts, tanks, sundresses, and flipflops. Shoes are required; no swimsuits. Your PTA encourages those who can to make a monthly donation to fund fun and educational events, like in school assemblies. The donation is very appreciated but optional, and everyone can dress up. If desired, please send cash or a check made out to Westowne PTA in your student's folder Friday, June 1st.
Did you know that monthly Go Fund the PTA donations count toward classroom totals for the end of year party? Simply set up your recurring PayPal donation and send us an email to confirm which class your child is in.
Top contributing classes include Ms. Getsinger ($478.44), Ms. Witz ($353.82), and Ms. Bill ($213.86). Thanks for your support, Westowne.
Volunteers needed! The gardens need a little love. Please help out so that Westowne can look great this spring.
When: Saturday, June 2nd, 10:00 - 12:00
Where: Meet at front (main) entrance
What to bring: Gloves, shovels, and weeding tools

School Board Candidate Forum
Voting for our Board of Education representative is new to Baltimore County this year. Southwest area PTAs and PTSAs want to assure the public learns about the candidates. Regardless of party affiliation, all voters can chose from the five district candidates at the June 26th primary and then elect our representative in November.
The PTA Council of Baltimore County and Central Area Education Advisory Council teamed up to survey all BCPS Board of Education candidates. They have heard from all five who are running for our area.
Westowne PTA also partnered with other area PTAs and PTSAs to host a candidate forum last week. Couldn't make it? The entire video may be watched on our Facebook page. Also find candidate questionnaires and additional information on our blog.
The BCPS Calendar is available online. Remember these important dates:
- Monday, May 28th - No school for Memorial Day
- Wednesday, June 13th - Last full day of school; final day for Pre-School and Pre-K
- Thursday, June 14th - Three hour early dismissal
- Tuesday, June 15th - Three hour early dismissal; final day
Save the date! On Friday, June 8th, Westowne will host a fun-filled day of games, water play, PTA sponsored snowballs, and more. The rain date is Monday, June 11th. Families are invited to come join the fun as volunteers or just to watch.
Please complete the volunteer sign up and turn it in to the PTA in your child's folder. Contact parent volunteer coordinator, Jesse Florida, with questions.
School volunteers should save the date for Westowne's annual Volunteer Tea on Thursday, June 7th from 10:00 - 11:00.
Lost and Found
Is your child missing something? Westowne's Lost and Found is located in the stairwell of the second floor green pod, along with the Recycling Center. The Lost and Found items, including many coats and jackets, will be donated to charity at the end of the school year. Please have your students check now to see if they've left something at school.
The Catonsville Farmers Market runs each Wednesday at its location in our neighborhood. Check it out at the Christian Temple on Wednesdays from 10:00 - 1:00.
