PTA Welcome Letter
Dear Westowne Community,
This school year, your PTA board is excited to continue working with you to promote family involvement and educational enrichment for Westowne’s students. This year we will revisit our long-standing and beloved PTA events. These events include Boo Bash, educational and entertaining assemblies, the Scholastic Book Fair, Science Night, Holiday Shoppe, after-school clubs, and more. We also continue our commitment to both advocating for and meeting needs in our school community.
We invite all returning and new families to be involved in the PTA.
We thank you for your enthusiastic and generous support last school year. Your PTA continues to focus on direct donations from families and local businesses as our primary funding source. Individuals are encouraged to donate during giving campaigns, including FUNding Fridays (previously “Pajama Day”) and Go Fund the PTA. You can also encourage your company or employer to become a Westowne PTA sponsor. It is an inexpensive form of advertising with an educational benefit. Sponsors are listed on online and in our newsletter. All contributions are tax deductible. More information about direct donations may be found on our website.
Your PTA board is comprised of parents who know supporting our school benefits our children and our community. We believe we make Westowne great together.
Welcome back to school, Westowne!

- Become a new member or renew your annual membership. Membership is the first step to participate in the PTA’s cause: supporting the school community, including the faculty, staff, families and most of all, students. To become a member, complete the membership form or purchase your membership on our website.
- Come to our monthly meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, October – May at 7:00 PM. See our Calendar for more information on each meeting.
- Join us on Facebook. Follow our Westowne Elementary PTA page for information and join our Westowne Elementary Community Forum to be part of the conversation.
- Subscribe to our newsletter by emailing us a request.
- Take part in our fundraising programs so we can continue to pay for family events, academic enrichment for our children, and more.
- Volunteer a little or a lot. All efforts are greatly appreciated!
- Attend our events and have a good time with your family and friends.

PTA Meetings
Join us on the second Tuesday, October through May, at 7:00 for our monthly meeting. See our Calendar for more information on each meeting. Learn what the PTA does for our school, as well as ways you can partner with fellow members to support teachers, staff, students, and families. For those of you who have other commitments, strive to keep you informed and involved with our website, email newsletter, and on Facebook. Become a Member
Please join the PTA or renew your annual membership. We encourage all adult members of the household to join the PTA. Annual membership costs are $10 per person or $15 for a family. Click here to join the PTA or download the membership form and send it in with your payment. Membership dues go to the county, state and national PTA, as well as pay for required insurance and training. We then depend on volunteers’ time, skills, and donations. The more members, the more we can help our school. Citizen's Advisory Committees
Both the Citizen's Advisory Committee for Gifted and Talented Education (GT CAC) and the Special Education Citizen's Advisory Committee (SECAC) offer parents an opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns about these programs in BCPS schools. |
